We can't change the business of real beef on our own.  Some businesses try to hide who they work with, but we want you to see and understand the rest of the business ecosystem it takes to bring a better beef with a bigger purpose direct to your door:


Although we don't like to talk, let alone think about it, the mystics and philosophers have long reflected on life and death as part of a cycle that gives both meaning.  We are committed to treating the final stages our animals' lives with utmost respect and care. Right now we only use and trust one processor with that care, and they set the standard that others will be expected to follow...

Mike Lorentz still runs the plant his parents started more than 50 years ago.  Michael Pollan made Lorentz Meats famous in his book "The Omnivore's Dilemma."   Mr Pollan described Lorentz as "The Glass Abattoir" for having the courage to install a window overlooking their processing plant for full transparency into how meat was processed.  We know of no better way to describe the deep ethic of Lorentz than the quote from Wendell Berry they have front and center on their web site:

"We cannot live harmlessly at our own expense; we depend on other creatures and survive by their deaths. To live, we must daily break the body and shed the blood of Creation. The point is, when we do this knowingly, lovingly, skillfully, reverently, it is a sacrament; when we do it ignorantly, greedily, clumsily, destructively, it is a desecration."

Getting our beef from the farm to your door involves transport moving something material long distances.  Done normally, this can be negative, but done better, this is also an area where we can have positive impact.
